Default Keep the flowmasters or not..?

When I bought my 2000 z28, the previous owner put flowmasters on it. (not sure what series.)

Has a nice sound to it, but i'm looking for something deeper and louder, would anyone recommend me switch to the slp loudmouth exhaust?

I have a budget of $600.

Well the SLP Loudmouth will be louder for sure but not necessarily deeper

Do not switch the a loudmouth. It will be higher pitched and raspy.

Do you have dual mufflers/pipes or a single muffer and exhaust pipe?

I have true duals with an X and 1-chambers. It's pretty deep and pretty loud. I'm cam'd too though and that added to the db's.

Any other mods on the car?

Borla is known for a very deep tone. You can also add volume (loud) by adding long-tube headers and an off-road y-pipe. Start changing internals (heads, cam) and you'll notice a change there too.

Another option would be a cutout in the intermediate pipe before the muffler in the rear.

$600 budget...

eBay headers and TSP y-pipe ~$350. You'll still keep the nice Flowmaster sound while increasing the volume -- and it'll be very budget friendly!

when I 1st got my car a few weeks ago it had a flowmaster cat back, I swapped to the SLP loudmouth and was happy with it UNTIL I installed TSP LT's and ORY now its just to loud and nasty! so if you plain on doing headers and no cats dont do the loudmouth!

I'm looking in ti changing to a magnaflow right now or borla

Swap in a FM Super 44, Pt #943045 (3" center inlet/outlet) or maybe a Super 10, Pt #843015.
IMO, the 44 sounds good!

So are you wanting to stay with dual pipes exiting the muffler ?

Consider adding an electric cutout, it'll be deep and nice and loud. Personally I like the sound of a Flowmaster on our cars, just a shame they don't flow all that great. Nothing will flow better than a cutout though.
