LQ4 swap into my 67 Chevelle
Hey guys just starting the process to swap a 2001 LQ4 into my chevelle and replacing the Big block and may need a little info on if i need to change oil pan and what mounts will work.
Here is my plan
Heads are being ported now
TSP 233/239 cam
BTR Platinum Springs
Have Fully Ported Victor Jr
forged wiseco pistons will be going in also
Th400
Having a hard time deciding if i want to 4150 accufab throttle body or elbow and 90mm .. Thinking i will have a hard time clearencing the elbow option.
Also my car has manual steering and manual brakes which i plan on keeping that way
Also have no a/c as the car really dont get driven all that much
Right now the car is a 396 with a richmond 5 speed and ram clutch but will be getting rid of the 5 speed.
Basically i just need some info on mounting motor and if i need to change pans. any other info would be great also i am open to everything right now.

My LQ4 is installed using the hooker motor mount plates (standard fore/aft location), with a mid-height solid motor mount, mating to a factory small block '67 frame stand (the ones without the return flange around the edge). I'm using the Holley oil pan, which provides excellent ground and k-member clearance, and with that mid-height solid motor mount noted above (will figure out part number tonight), it has ample clearance to the inner tie rods at full lock and still isn't crammed clear up in the trans tunnel. Also still uses OE type filter and provisions for LS generation transmission bolting (even though you won't need it with th400).
I'm not using a/c. I do use corvette front accessories, which clears everything by a mile including power steering, although you've stated twice that you aren't using it.
What headers do you plan to run? ..or planning to fab your own?

Here's a link to my build thread. I put an LQ4 into a 66. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Okay my friend. Take whatever budget you allotted for this build and and double it. My buddy is in the process of putting an ly6 turbo in his 68 Chevelle and it has become a nightmare. He has the transdapt plates and we have tried multiple small block mounts and clamshells. We first used the cts v pan. It wont work. Now we have a holley pan and we have just decided to try to make our own mounts. The car was also a previous big block car and we just cant seem to get the mounts to line up. We used spacers and multiple other ways and it still wont sit on both mounts correctly and have full lock to lock steering. Buy a proven kit with pan and mounts.

Another option is doing a slight notch in the crossmember. I'm running fbody oil pan, S&p adapter plates and just welded in the chevelle small block frame mounts in with a TIG welder. We also tig'd the notched crossmember after fabbing a plate to fill in the notch. See build thread in sig.

Nice.
We should start a Sixty Seven forum
I'm also running manual disc & steering. As for motor mounts, why not just make an engine plate. This way you can place it exactly where you want it and ideal angle. This is what I intend to run when I do mine. I've been running solid motor mounts since the 80's and wouldn't have it any other way. FTW.
