Default Aeroforce Scangauge/Glowshift Wideband problems

I wired my wideban on my '97 Camaro to the 12v constant cigarette lighter fuse, and the 12v switched to the dashboard gauges in the fusebox. When I turn the car on, the wideband works but the scangauge doesnt. If I unlug the scangauge from the obd port and plug it back in with the car on, they both work. If I unplug the power from the wideband the scangauge works. Basically, the only way they both work together at the same time is if I unplug the scangauge and plug it back in. I dont understand it. Any ideas? I also tried using different sources of power from the fuse box with the same results.

Edit: Just read on the instructions about wiring a separate power wire from the back of the scangauge to a switched power source. I remember reading on here some people saying they had to hard wire the gauge in. Is this what they were referring to?

Ran another power wire from the back of the scangauge and it works fine.
