Default Need advice

I have an 01 LS1 I'm swapping into a camaro.

Anyways, it has a little over 100k on it. Should I just bolt on longtubes and be happy with it, run it till it wears out, then swap the 5.7 block to a thompsons motorsports lq4 6.0 shortblock later on, and put my cam of choice in the 6.0?

Or should I go ahead and cam the ls1, change the lifters, pushrods, oil pump, all of the usual stuff that goes with a cam swap.., and hope it doesn't wear out soon....

Just seems if i did all that work to the ls1 and it gives out later on, i'll have wasted my time and money...

Thanks.

With only 100k, you might be waiting a very long time for that engine to give out. One of mine has 104k, and I expect to get at least another 104k from it before needing a rebuild. This sort of logevity can be expected from any LS1 engine that has been properly maintained.

It still feels like russian roulette to me.

Do you happen to know the cost of rebuilding an ls1 shortblock?

100k is nothing man. I wouldn't worry about a rebuild. You could daily that thing for the next 6 years and be fine with proper maintenance.

I was leaning towards a custom cam like 227/227 with .614 lift on I/E lobes.
