Hello all I just purchased a Camaro SS hood for my 98 z28 and it needs to be stripped. It has the original paint on it then it was reprinted. I just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on a preferred method of stripping on a smc hood.

why does it need to be stripped?
just sand it and primer it.

Also as long as you don't sand through to previous layers of primer you wont have to prime and paint right over it as long as your painting the same color. Also assuming the paint is in no real damage.

as the others have said it doesn't need to be totally stripped. Even if it is a different color it doesn't really have to. When you said down paint like that if you don't sand the whole thing down to the same layer and wetsand any markings smooth you will see them in the new paint. I would scuff it real good and shoot it. What color is it currently and what color will it be getting painted to?

Hello, if your hood is like my 99 red hood and rear spoiler, since they are delaming, I would Da the entire clear coat off. Then prime with a good eurothane. Underhood just sand and scuff. Good luck...
