Default Stock HU and aftermarket amp

Wanting to keep my stock HU and was wondering if yanking the Monsoon amp for an aftermarket amp can be done. I have replaced all the stock speakers and need a little more volume from my system. Would a 4 channel amp work??? Do they make an 8 channel amp???

Thanks

Bear in mind that the factory head unit does not produce pre-amp level output - only speaker level. You will need either an amp that takes speaker level input or a line out converter.
