Slick or Radial for M6 car?
So I am currently running a M/T ET Street Radial. Best 60' is 1.9 on 15lbs of air.
I have noticed with these tires if you spin off the line its really hard to recover with them.
I have been doing some research and have been leaning towards a Hoosier slick c07 compound.
Can I get some opinions here from people who have ran both? Rear end is moser 12 bolt with 4:10 gears. Spohn lower control arms, body mounted torque arm, welded sfc's, panard bar. Stock shocks.

Most everything I have read from searches on here to Mickey Thompson's web site say that with a manual trans bias ply tires work best. I just got a brand new set of M/T ET Steet bias ply slicks size 26-10.5-16. Let you know how they work after I get them to the track.

Well i didn't know u can find bias ply slicks in 16", i guess now i know - thx gupp. When i shopped for real slicks i found most were for the tire size i was looking for in 15". And from what i read lately a 15" rim won't fit over our brake calipers - but i haven't pulled a wheel yet to test fit a 15".
What i'm saying if u want to run 15" rims see if they fit first.
Hope this helps,
cardo

Cardo, the tires I got are DOT drag tires. Summit has them with free shipping and no add on FedEx oversize item charge like Jegs does.

I picked up some 16" V6 steelies 'cause I didn't want to grind my calipers or spend a ton on the Billet Specialties 15 inchers that clear the rear brakes.

All of this. By going with a 16" wheel you are sacrificing more traction going with a shorter wall. Hoosier QTP's are what you need on a 15" wheel. There's not a whole lot to grinding the rear calipers either. Basically just the fins.

Bias Ply ET Street Track Results
Went to GLD tonight to try out my new 26-10.5-16 M/T ET Streets. Managed a PB of 1.81 60' at 13 psi, only suspension mod is lca relo brkts. These tires have fantastic grip without the driveline shock I got with my normal 17" radial tires. It's such a planted feel, you could get addicted to it. lol
Ran a 13.060 at 106.38, I need to fire the guy working the shifter!

Why the need for slicks? Lots of people have had no trouble going 1.4-1.5, some even lower, on the MT 275/60/15 drag radials and the Goodyear DRs in the same size. Slicks are more forgiving, I agree with that, but is that only hiding a suspension problem or an incorrect launch RPM?

The less shock saves a lot of wear on the clutch and all of the parts behind it. Besides the fact that slicks are being used on vehicles that are running 3.5 second quarter mile times. Maybe they are idiots and can't launch at the proper rpm??? Yeah, Radials much better.

Stick racers that actually know what they are doing use bias tires.
Any damn thing will go under 1.8 in 60' if they have a clue what they are doing.
Most people know stick cars are fastest with some initial wheel speed, which (unless the car has totally no *****) radial will not recover ftrom that like a bias tire will. 1500 hp NHRA Pro Stock cars need that. About all automatic cars are quickest if they dead hook, unless your talking some of that "pro mod" stuff.
