Where to buy Upgraded T56 synchro's/shift forks? (Not in a rebuild kit)
Made a highway pull the other day, working on finishing my tune, and fifth just stripped out. I'll probably need a new gear as well... I can still shift into 5th from 4th, if I press firmly forward until clutch it released. But it will not down shift into fifth, and anything over 2k rpm unless already in gear, it won't go in. Shifter slides in nicely, sits where it should. But it snarls like a troll. I'm right at 500 rwhp, so I figured I'd just go ahead and pull the tranny once, replace the clutch with a stronger one, and fix the weak links.
Having trouble finding the parts though. I'll be replacing myself. Don't need a master rebuild kit either, unless its just cheaper to take the package deal. Looking for 3-4 shift fork, and 1-5 synchro's, and shifter gear/5th gear as well.

You need a Bk396ws (bearing kit with syncros) and a TNEC0843 (steel 3/4fork). There are a lot more upgrades you can do to it.
Bronze pads on all shift forks.
Billet keys on all syncro assemblies.
Just be cautious of some of the pads advertised as bronze but are really yellow brass. They wear a lot quicker than an actual bronze pad.
Also with the billet keys, some are advertised as billet but are actually powdered metal.

When I had the T56 in my Impala SS rebuilt I ordered all the parts from http://www.ddperformance.com/ and they were friendly and fast.

thanks for info guys. tear down will happen b4 i buy anything, for sure. i may find i could use additional parts as well while i have the tranny out.
i drove the car to my apartment from my house (70 miles) mostly insterstate, and if i feather the gas when going into fifth it slide in perfect, and goes fine in gear. but if not given gas to motor to match RPM level b4 clutch intiates, grinds like hell. what does that sound like? dull gear teeth? or the syncro? or both?
