Default Aligning shifter after a4 to t56 swap

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a 98 Trans am that has a a4 to t56 swap. The problem is the shifter is not "centered" in the console opening. It's 1-2 inches to far to the right. When going into 5 or 6 the rod rubs the plastic, and when going into R, you have to force the shift to bend the console out a little. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this?

Bump, anyone have some ideas

The previous owner said it has a hurst shifter as well. Is there any way the shifter could have been installed wrong causing the alignment issue?

the trans and shifter can really only be mounted in one place. the shifter rod otoh can be adjusted so pull the console off and see if you can move it to clear everything
