Question Low Battery Charge vs Engine/Tranny Performance?

I have an LS1/4L60E vehicle that gets used only once a month. The battery is probably never at its peak, even though its a newer battery. What affect on transmission shifting, etc. & engine performance will a semi-charged battery have, if any?

"If the battery has enough power to start the engine, the engines alternator will then supply the needed power to operate the engine & transmission sufficiently". Would I be correct in this statement??? No? Yes? Please elaborate! thanx

It won't change anything. The PCM tables scale well below 10 volts.

As long as the running voltage is good then a weak battery shouldn't matter much. I once had battery posts that were so dirty the engine would momentarily die every time I turned on a turn signal (a pre EFI car). So the battery does work to smooth out voltage surges when stuff comes on. But like said above if it has enough juice to start the car and the voltage with the alternator turning is good then I can't imagine you having a problem.

Buy a plug in battery tender. They aren't much bigger than a cell phone charger and you can get them for under $30. I use to have problems with batteries going dead on my project cars every couple of years until I got one of these.
