Gto h, x, straight??
Hey ive got a 2004 GTO
Long tube headers, high flow cats, magnaflow x pipe, custom race mufflers.
My car isn't as loud as i want it to be, i would like it to be loud raspy and mean.
which would be louder an H pipe or take out the x and put in straight pipes???
Thanks!

I have ls2 gto m6 ... long tubes big cam and had the loud mouth 1... It was so loud I could NOT drive the car in public. If you want obnoxious get the LM1. i did buy the loud mouth for a reason because if it was too loud I could swap just the resonators on the rear to the loud mouth 2 setup... I ended up changing over to the loud mouth 2 catback after a year because it was more docile and public safe LOL

No straight pipe. No SLP Loudmouth. Get a muffler that actually has a good note to it. Ditch the cats completely (there's a company that welds shells around 3" straight pipe to looks like cats). Go with a Magnaflow, Borla, or Kook's that offers a good sound rather than just pure volume of noise.

Straight pipes, brah. **** quality sound, when you can make tons of noise. Granted, it will sound like dog-****, but it's still noise.
The LM1 and LM2 are great for rasp and drone. It's terrible on the highway.

best advice so far.
coming from a guy who has had straight pipes, it is fun sounding like a stock car going down the interstate at 7k rpm but now that i have a real exhaust (1-7/8 kooks, x pipe, borla xr1's) i get tons of compliments on the way it sounds. It is also quite tolerable driving long distances and very loud still at WOT.
derek

I totally agree with what youre saying. Everyone would love to have a top notch quality setup like that but if money is an issue, and often it is, there are options that sound good, not nasty loud and are MUCH cheaper.
The guy I bought my car from paid $300 for the x pipe to be built(instead of buying one for GTO) and have straight pipes in where the mufflers were. It has stock manifolds, front cats, X pipe, and straight out to the stock tips. For $300 you couldn't make it sound better. I was very surprised of how it sounded considering what he had done. The ONLY thing id change will be to add longtubes. Then if it sounds crazy loud, ill change the catback.
Exhaust is like wheel choice or paint color. To each his own. 5 guys will give 5 different opinions.
Here are some clips of mine.
