I think I bent a push rod.. Nice ticking sound when RPM's increase and at idle. Nice and loud. Anyways...

I was wondering if I would have any trouble taking the pushrods out or checking the rocker arms. I have little experience on working on an LS1 motor. I have checked LS1howto and it looks pretty simple. Should I be ok on replacing the pushrods, or should I get a mechanic to check it out? I also catch on to things pretty quickly.

I think I can do it. How long would it take?

It is a pretty simple procedure. Just follow the instructions. Should not take more than an hour or two.

Yes its really easy to do. Roll em on glass to check for bends. If you need replacemenys let me know as i have several sets laying around.

I think it was because I let it revv too high in 1st on my burn out. No traction, obviously, and RPMs went high. Opps, won't happen again

you may have deeper issues. I replaced my pushrods for a problem that occurred while doing a burnout. I put it all back together and there was still a ticking. I had bent valves causing the ticking. You should pull the heads and inspect because the piston hitting the valves could have caused the bent pushrods like me. Turns out I had like 4 bent pushrods that hit pistons and now I am doing a full valvetrain upgrade.

You have a bigger problem. You don't bend a pushrod that bad without contact of some kind. Typical bent pushrod guys see around here is a minor deflection. That is a major bend.

Last time I heard the concept of "catch on pretty quickly" was still in the grey area. You need to go to: LS1 HOW TO and maybe a shop manual to be sure your sure. You have to pull that pedestal off which means you have to loosen the rocker bolts which are held in place with locktite. Use a 3/8 drive breaker bar and a 8mm 6 pt socket to crack the locktite. I'd do a compression or a leakdown first and get an idea of just what is going on inside your motor.

I had one bent pushrod when I did my cam/springs swap a while back, but it was no where near as bent as the one in the far left in your pic. Mine was maybe only bent at a 7º angle or so. That thing looks like a banana.
