700HP Goal. How to reach it?
Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and to wrenching in general. Been reading up a lot on performance but I still get confused on which parts go well with what and so on... So I bought a 93 Trans Am in January and have just been spending time getting it back into it's prime. It only has 45k miles but it sat in a barn for 10 years.
My goal for this build is 700HP no nitrous, possibly turbocharged. I would like to keep the stock short block but would consider converting to spliced four bolt main for added strength.
Give me a rundown on parts you would use, brands you recommend, pricing, etc.
This will be a street/strip build but this is MI so I don't give a rip about emissions.
Let's see some suggestions please thanks.

Have you ever driven or ridden in a vehicle that has 700hp? 700 is a huge undertaking and will cost a rather large chunk of change to get there. Then you have to get the power to the ground..... Not saying you dont know what you are doing, but most have never even driven a vehicle with 400 rwhp.

Forged 383. Big heads. Low compression. Big turbo. Big cam. Then supporting mods. Big fuel system, big transmission, big rear end, big tires(noticing a trend? ), awesome tuner.
It's not difficult...just expensive. Can done on a 355 with enough boost and RPM, but an aftermarket headed 383 will make it easier.

You can forget keeping the stock shortblock in an application like that. The compression is way too high for a boosted application in a standard LT1 engine. Then you need to worry about strength integrity of the whole motor.. and THEN if you've got that kind of power you're going to need to strengthen the whole car or you're going to literally start tearing it apart and blowing things up.
If you're asking this question - 700 horsepower isn't for you. There's a lot of knowledge and responsibility that 700 horsepower demands, and you need to learn all of that before you just build something with that kind of potential. That power in the wrong hands is asking for tragedy and death.
My friend built a 512 BBC pumpgas/race fuel 50/50 mix and it runs right around those power levels. Cost him 13,000 just to build the motor not including the rest of the car. Big power is BIG money.

I am not a troll. Surely not. Here's my story, hate me if you must, but please don't call me a troll. My uncle is rich, he basically brought me up on racing, I was just never into the technical/mechanical aspect of it till recently. I was a Junior dragster champ, I have three trophies. My uncle has a Lamborghini Aventador, a Hennessey venom gt, and a mercedes slk black edition. I've been behind the wheel of all of them. I just always liked firebirds I guess. My budget for this is around $20k, but less would be better, as always.
Sorry if you don't believe me, but just answer the questions and don't criticize people, it annoys me.

If your LEGIT trying to get 700 hp, is that at the tires or at the crank? Is this a drag car or a street car? Id start back to front, rear end, driveshaft, rear suspension, trans, then decide if you really wanna stick with the LT platform or go LSx. Check out the forced induction section of this forum for some cheap turbo 5.3 builds, guys are getting 900rwhp on stock 5.3s.

I have quite a bit more then that in my motor and only expecting ~600-625 flywheel. I'd be the happiest man alive if it makes 650, but I'm not holding my breath.
OP, my last post wasn't 100% series but it still stands...you will need a lot of research, and a lot of money to make 700 flywheel and ESPECIALLY 700rwhp with an LT1...and then after all that, you basically need to replace everything else on the car to make it reliable. Your 20G budget is an awesome rough guideline for the motor, but won't be enough for the whole car.

Don't worry, the only 3 posts he made were in this thread and his real name is James... Or Mike. Or hell, tomorrow it's probably Stan. Not like we've never seen the " OMG haxer gotz muh account because I made a retard queshun". Who the hell would bother 'hacking' when creating a new account like this takes .058683 seconds.
OP, you really should lay off the Forza Motorsport. It's bad for your IQ. Oh, and lying is bad too... Mmkay?

That's awesome price actually, and a bit soft for a 512 with race gas mixed in...it will be a lot more to do with an LT1, especially NA.
