Default Concerns about fast intakes?

Debating if i should purchase a fast 92? Yes i know their expensive and supposedly u gain 25hp but i heard people only REALLY get about 13 to 14 that's bogus to pay so much and gain that kinda hp i honestly think your just paying for the brand but if it really gives u more i will be convinced to purchase one. Just asking is it really worth getting??

Depends on your current mods and current intake. I know someone personally who gained 17 hp on a head/cam/LS6 intake LS1. This was done on the same dyno too

I gained 20 rwhp over my LS6 but I already had H/C. This was also on the same dyno. I ported the snot out of it and even port matched it to my heads. This was with an FTP lid and 4" bellows on a 92/92. To get the most out of it you can't forget about everything in front on the intake.

"Worth" is Subjective....

IMHO, Yes a lot of the cost is in the brand name, partially because they have the market (Who else has a plastic performance proven intake??) and you're paying for the R&D that went into it's design and patent. I heard over a $million went into the FAST102 design. Lastly...Supply and demand. A lot of people want these intakes, so they charge as much as the consumer is willing to spend (basic economics). Tons of people buy them at $800 so why charge less?

It cost money to go fast, especially in the modern engine department.

The FAST intake may only gain xx horsepower, but the deal is all the mods added together is where its at. The 5hp there, 10 horsepower here, another 7hp there...it all adds up and the mods compliment each other to perform at their full potential. You will mostly like see more gains going FAST 92 on a ported head engine than you would on an engine with stock heads. Having been down the journey I have, I rather have a large cubic engine with stock components than adding a bunch of bolt-ons to a smaller one. It works, but cost so much more money.

If you can get one buy it unless you plan at staying at your current power level forever. It's a nice building block for the future.

I have a stock ls1, I got some 799 heads that I'm going to get them stage 2 ported and mild cam 232/236 597 lift tsp long tube headers x pipe exhaust 4.10 gears and the fast 92 if i purchase it? So I'm assuming that with this setup the fast 92 be a choice to go with or should i get a 102 fast would that be much better for my setup or a 92?

A fast 102 is a superior intake over the 92, but it requires additional items to run it on the ls1.

If you have a LS1 intake I would definitely want to change that out. Just decide how much you want to spend/ how much power you want. You could go with a LS6, BBK, or FAST.

Is the fast overpriced? Absolutely. An ls6 is not very restrictive but If you want every last hp the fast is needed. Average gain is 10 to 15rwhp across the board with the 92 from what I've seen.

Fuel rails, and you might have to grind down the water pump. You also don't have to use a 102 TB, many use a 92mm.

From someone who HAS a 102 on their 346.

You need:

LS2 fuel Rail
Spacer kit from CBM to lift the rail up (If you want to run LS1 injectors)
LS3 Coolant crossover tube
92 or 102 Throttle body (I run a 92mm).

I didn't have to grind my pump at all.

I believe your run into the WP clearance problem when using the 102mm TB.

You have the beginning mod mentality. At first hp is cheap, and fairly easy to come by. The FAST is one of the first mods where hp starts stepping up a bit in price. You need to ask yourself if you are content with where your car is, performance wise. I wasn't so I bought one. One day mine will have a 4xx engine, so at least I will not have a bottleneck stock intake. I considered it a somewhat long term investment in that respect. You may also consider some weight reduction. It is fairly easy to get a couple hundred pounds out of these cars without spending much or losing much civility. That just make every other mod count more. Food for thought.

Alright well thanks for the info learned something, but a fast 102 seems to big to run for my setup??? I'm doing a stage 2.5 port on my 799 heads and a mild cam 232/236 597 lift or is it a good idea to run a 102 or a 92? Just asking?
