Default Got screwed on a Craigslist deal

Bought a 10 bolt on Craigslist and was told "it was recently rebuilt, has 3.73 motive gears, eaton HD posi, doesn't whine" and the second I pulled out of my driveway it whined. I emailed, called, texted and pmed the guy, who is on here as wannabsscamaro and no response. 7 months and 5 miles later I finally pull the cover, a bunch of teeth on the ring and pinion are chipped. Great.

And can someone verify if this is an Eaton HD posi? Or is it a stock ls1 posi?

How long till she blows? Think it will make it through 40 miles and 5 track passes this weekend on street tires or tear it out now? I haven't driven the car since last November and just wanna play with it...

That looks like a stock posi to me but I sure as hell wouldnt run it any longer with teeth looking like that. Might do more than just damage the posi, could bust the housing if it came apart.

I'd never buy something like that from Craigslist. People are just too dishonest on there. I'm sorry to see you got suckered.

This is my first time having a bad Craigslist deal, it's my own fault for not inspecting the gears before I laid down $200. Now I need to decide to either find another Craigslist rear, new gears in this one, or end my season before it even started and save for a 9" or s60 set up the way I really want. How hard is road racing on a 10 bolt behind my 300-320rwhp 3200lb race weight car?

That gear was setup wrong, ring gear teeth are toast.

Never seen a pinkish spring on a stock posi but I could be wrong. Yeah something looks suspect on the ring gear but a clearer pic would help.
