Hit 11's on my 8th pass
Ok I have an 81 swapped malibu. I figured that I would share this here just incase theres someone else looking to do the same.
The car is a 81 Malibu full factory insides, wipers, radio, bench seat,....etc...
I performed the 5.3 swap last fall, fuel injected, th400, and a 8.8 this summer.
This spring I bought a camshaft and didnt want to pay for tuning or hpt so I carburator swapped it.
So a little of my setup
Stock 5.3 arp rod bolts and I changed the cam bearings, mls head gaskets, and new oil pump. I have a vic jr and holley 700dp fed with a walbro 255 regulated with a mallory bypass. The rest was as advertised.
I have a tci Th400, tci 4k converter, 3" cromoly driveshaft and a ford 8.8 w/3.55 gears mt drag radials 275/60's on the back corners.
I had 5 passes in prior to last friday but with bald bfg radial t/a's they didnt amount to much. Best pass was a 13.7 @ 103. Spraying nitrous made it worse, infact 1 pass was a 28 second ride that scared the **** out of me (just about lost it sideways down the track)
Anyways last friday after I installed a floor shifter, baseline buckets, an M/Ts It was time to go back out 1 last time before Hunting season
1st pass na ran a 13.7@101 (no burnout no spinning)
2nd pass on a100 shot was a 12.9 @ 111 (no burnout and blew the tires off in 1st
52n 41f)
On the 3rd pass I did a burnout and changed the jetting (57n 41f) and ran a 11.8 @ 114
4th pass I put the 200 shot jets in and something didnt jive because I only ran a 11.7@114
Btw Im running a lgm g5x1 cam on a 112+4
