ATI Damper
I am thinking about buying the damper on ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/200969727021...84.m1423.l2649 and was just wondering what I can expect for 250? It will just help balance out the motor so it idles/revs smoother or it is lightweight for faster revving?
Just wondering what the advantages are

get a blem while you can... the stock ones are crap. A stock replacement is not much cheaper. New the ATI is $500 otherwise. and the blems look great. The hub on mine was slightly discolored. You can't even see the hub once installed.
The ATi is also rebuild-able should the need arise in the future

For those of you who are interested in buying an ATI Superdamper, or have already purchased one, you should know that ATI does a whole bunch of articles that are about as unbiased as you can reasonably expect. Here's their Crankshaft Vibration Dampers 101 article, which sold me on one about 18 months ago:

FYI to all you guys who just ordered one of the blems -
There are nine bolts that hold the damper to the hub. Six 5/16" x 1", three 5/16" x 2".
After wrestling with trying to get the AC pulley on with the longer three, called ATI - turns out they sent the wrong bolt package - I got three 3/8" x 2". The 3/8" thread into the hub but are too big for the AC pulley.
So, after waiting ten days for the damper to show up, I get to wait a few (?) more while they send me the right bolts.
In other words - before you tear your car apart, be sure they sent the right bolts.

Santa Rosa, appreciate the offer - pm me if you want to remove the bolts and mail, otherwise not really in a rush. Have a couple other cars, of course one has no taillights (brake lights ok) and the other's been fouling sparkplugs and the heater's stuck on (not a big deal now that it's cooling off).

Double check they don't thread into the AC pulley - I didn't preassemble things and only found out I had some sort of problem when the 3/8x2 bolts wouldn't go in.
Makes sense, of course, not going to have the bolts thread into both the hub and the AC pulley.
The longer bolts are (I think) for the non-AC configuration.
Was your "packed with care" slip signed? Mine was blank.
Call them at the number on the instructions... they'll send replacements "right away".

my packed with care slip isn't signed...
but I just checked and the 3/8 bolts do thread into the hub and fit through the pulley - see the pic below for them threading into the hub. It's clear the hub as spots for three bigger and six smaller diameter bolts. I think I'm ok.
Because of this and the fact that the ls1/ls7 instructions reference both 5/16 and 3/8 bolts, I think they're supposed to be different (?)

The way it was explained to me is there are 12 threaded holes - 6x 5/16, 6x 3/8.
The AC bolts are supposed to be 5/16x2, slipped through three of the 3/8 holes (the others are not used), and screwed into the AC pulley.
The 3/8 bolts are to be used if no rear pulley is used - the damper assembly needs to be attached with nine bolts.
The holes in the AC pulley are 5/16 threaded, yes?
