Default Warranty worth it?

Hey guys,

Just picked up an 07 with 29k miles. I also bout a GM major guard warranty for 1700 which covers everything up to 3 years / 36k.

I just got the warranty paperwork in the mail and they said I have 60 days to change my mind. Should I keep it or get my money back?

So it's an additional 36k or if covers you until you get to 36k?

If it only covers you for the next 7k miles and there are no issues with the car I think you'd be hard pressed to break anything that costs 1700$ in the next 7k miles.

Assuming that it is for another 36k miles/3 years, I'd keep it. That would put the car at 9-10 years old. There's a good chance that something will need fixing in a car that old.

I purchased a warranty with mine, and after my first year, had a full engine replacement warrantied for $50 out if pocket. Totally worth it.

Keep it. Mounts alone ate up what i paid for the extended warranty.

that seems like a hell of a deal, not sure what "everything covers" I would look into that otherwise that seems worth it

Overall, the GM Major Guard was a good investment when I got my V1 five years ago. $50 deductible and it covered rentals for the approved repair period.

Here's what I remember having replaced within the three years that I had it:

Radiator replaced twice
NAV/Radio unit replaced once
Alternator replaced once
Starter replaced twice
Motor mounts replaced once
Sunroof motor and assembly replaced once
Differential bushing replaced once
Complete shifter assembly replaced once
Oil pressure sensor replaced once

I think there's a couple more things that I'm missing but yea, I want to say I got my moneys worth.

Definitely recommend the warranty. My car was a CPO at 15k in may 2010 when I got it. I have recently had Motor mounts done at 76k and just had my Diff. bushing done at 86k. I have a week left on my warranty now and am trying to break the trans, engine and diff. by this weekend.
