Default Smoked Firebird/Trans Am Tail Lights?

Has anyone tried heating a stock tail light to remove the cover, then tinting the inside with VHT Nightshades, then sealing it back up? I haven't taken the taillight out to look at it, so I really have no point of reference yet.

You can just nightshades the outside of the lense like any others. I've seen it done on one firebird and it kinda gives the lights a dull finish. I bet if you did it to your liking and then maybe did a polishing or two on it to make it shine, it would look pimp. I may try this on the car I'm about to buy actually... it's allll black.

I'd like the gloss to match the filler panel... Install a '93-'97 Formula filler panel for an entirely black panel, pr a CE one for the silver Trans Am.

I was going to do the overlays, etc. but I decided to go with an entirely black car after I got it back with the tint.

Ive done the nite shade on my third brake light and it looks great, it does leave it kind of dull but I just polished it up and it shines nice now, but it wouldnt shine like the filler panel does

It would be a PITA do open them up and spray on the inside. I just have covers on mine. I got them from Lappens for $45 (AutoZone also has them for the same price).

It would be nice if someone made a one-piece cover like this:

I always wondered how it would turn out if the outside of the tails were tinted with window tint. I don't really like the plastic look of the night shades and when I bought a pair, it seemed to not align great and was too black. Wouldn't tint film work, or does it have to be on the inside of a part? I figure with tint, at least one can choose the level of darkness and have it look more natural, just darker.

Not possible. Window film would 1) not adhere well to plastic when exposed to elements 2) not conform to the curves of the tail lights 3) scratch very easily when exposed to repeated washings, etc.

I did my sidemarkers on the rear with nightshades. They came out dull, once they dried I shot them with some glossy clearcoat they look great
