Default Drag radial question?

Had a dumb question to ask. Does M/Ts or any drag radial have a shelf life as in do they expire? I have some on my car that for some reason I can't get them to hook @ any psi. I am only making under 400rwhp on a 5th gen camaro they have about 80% life on them and no matter what or how long of a burnout they still spin. Just wondering if they were sitting for 9months would that have dry rotten by now? Thanks and sorry for the dumb question.

Check the date they were made. Yes, drag radials can dry rot.

I'd imagine it would depend on the temp they've been stored.

You can look on the net to find out where the date is posted on them. I had a set of tires that discount wouldn't mount because they were dated too long ago. I just don't know how.

Are the tires treated with anything like tire shine? Sounds silly to ask but I've seen armor all on bike tires!

Might not be the tires. Might be the track, launch RPM's, just a good number of things. Don't go blaming the tires until you check out all the possibilities of anything else that could be wrong.

No tires shine on them. Idk the car used to hook perfectly fine when I bought them I still have 75% life on them but can't hook even from a 20roll it'll spin. All I did was add a 3600 converter and take off in idle vs brake stalling

It takes quite awhile for tires to go bad, as in several years. I have two sets of F1 Supercar tires for my Z06 that are low mileage, but are from 2001. They've been kept inside, climate controlled, but they are just rock hard. I call them my 600hp tires as when you drive the car with them on, it acts like it has 600HP.

And it is correct that Discount tire will not touch tires that are several years old...

A tire that is that new should be ok after a good burnout to clean off any contamination.
