Default TD's dumped = great Out the back now = Rasp??

I have OBX Long Tube Headers, decided to get rid of the raspy Y setup and go with True Duals solely for sound purposes. Ordered a Phab 3" x-pipe with bullet mufflers dumped before the axle and it sounded awesome, mean, deep, smooth. There was no rasp whatsoever but it was LOUD as hell in the cab from all the drone. Couldn't stand the rattle trap so I decided to run it out the back to help solve that problem.

After going out the back I Now get a little rasp or something at some varying RPM ranges under medium to heavy throttle, it just doesn't have a nice solid deep aggressive sound throughout like I want. Plus there's still drone around the 65-75mph range. I've read nothing but great things at how Duals have the best sound and just want to achieve that too.

So is this the result of going out the back? That's all that changed since it was dumped. The tailpipes weren't mandrel bent (hydralic press) but they are only 30-40 degree bends so we're not talking much restriction here at all. This is the only point in the system where there are bends like this. Or is it the tips perhaps? They are 3" out dual tips and originally had a 2.5" inlet. The shop just cut off the inlet and welded the 3" in Tailpipes closer to the split where it becomes 3" Exhaust guy said it wasn't a problem mating these and IMO it doesn't look bad at all. Could this awkward sound be something small like that??

Should I change the mufflers, change the tips or have the guy redo the tailpipes with mandrel bends?

The bullet mufflers are your problem.

I am going to get flowmasters as I like them.

Everyone suggests Corsa, Borla or Magnaflow....

Do you have a similar setup? Which flowmasters are you going with? I've heard good things about Morosso Spiral Flows but those are bullet styles too... :/

Spirals sound great but they will drone without something in front of them. They almost have a bell tone at cruise.

I have OBX long tube headers with a 3" TSP x-pipe setup and moroso spirals dumped at the axle... I was planning on extending over the axle in the future. Is it likely that I will get this rasp too?

A set of manga flow round tubes would be my bet. Put them right before the tips under the bumper I have heard and seen a couple set ups like that and they sound very smooth with a good rumble

Proves the point I have been making for years. The rasp is inherent. You just dont hear it with dumped duals because the exhaust resonates off the ground and under the car and it gets cancelled out.

On those setups you've seen, do you know if they had cats or anything in front of the mufflers? With the exception of mufflers I would prefer to leave it open like I have it...

magnaflow sounds great on a dual system ran back, you could even keep the bullets you have and add some magnapacks near the tips, also borla xr1s are great as well,

i wouldnt mess with changing the tail pipes,i think with a mellow bullet you would be happy or get 2 small vibrant mufflers and add them before the tips, seen that done alot

I think I saw a clip of your car, red Camaro with dumps? If so that thing sounded mean. Mine did too when it was dumped but drones like hell in the cab, yours too? I want that mean sound without the cab vibrating apart lol.

Hey man, saw your message, my car has the Kooks True Dual setup, which goes over the axle and out the back. No cats, but the kooks system has some small bullet mufflers.

Blurry pic of my setup, but you'll get the idea. I have the down-turned tips after the bullets to be at a slight angle outward facing of each other. Maybe about a 25 degree tilt outward. No cats either. I have no drone and only a slight rasp.
