Trying to do a Turbo LQ9 with AC in a G-Body
Hello LS Folks,
Trying to do a turbo LQ9 with AC in a G-Body (1985 Turbo T). I have a 4L80 trans but because of weight and cost to run it, I was thinking of Going with the 200R tranny. Im only looking for a high 11 second street car. I have a 67 pro street nova to scratch that other itch. Any and all, and I mean all information would be helpful. Hoping to have car running before summer.

Have you had much experience with turbo cars? IMO it's so easy to make tons of torque early with them, that you don't need an OD transmission. You can put enough gear in the back to make up for it. If you really only want 11's it wouldn't be an issue.
I Currently cruise around on a 28" tire with 3.10 gears. Still very highway friendly. 70mph at around 2600-2700 rpm. 1.3x 60' times.
I loved my 2.73 geared powerglide turbo setup. Went 10's and cruised 70 at 2300rpm on a power glide.

Whats your budget? Thought about remote mounting? Theres a big trunk on that bad boy! An oil less turbo setup in the rear would be cake. It would also cost alot initially for the turbo. Oil-less upgrade is an additional $600 or so I was told on top of the turbo (if they offer the series you want in oil-less)

Not racing this one. Turbo is just a novelty, Only because it was a real turbo 6 cyl car. I can really use some help with things like, where to send harness? and where the cheap turbo piping is...I want the prefab good stuff yall are using

The 4l80e is a much better trans than the 200r4. I played with 200's for years in my Turbo buick setups. With nothing more than a shift kit and some aftermarket clutches a 4l80e will take 800+whp. I would run it, it will be cheaper in the "end" if you want an OD trans.
Also I'd run the OEM harness. Cut the wires leading to the emissions items and clean up the orig. harness. Then use the original ECU with HP tuners to tune the car. It will allow you to convert to speed density, remove the emissions, control AC and also control the transmission.
Cheap turbo piping is all over Ebay. Or a VSracing makes an all inclusive "poor mans" turbo LS swap kit inspired by a board member here. This would work great for your goals.
