Question LS1 / LQ4 Alternator Question

Can you use a 6.0 truck 130amp alternator like for a 2000 2500hd on a 1998 z28 LS1 5.7? I need to replace mine and they are about the same price. The camaro alt. Is 105 amps the thr 2500hd is 130 amps.So I was just wondering if it would work.

I just did this mod on my TA. I got a alternator from a tahoe with the KG3 code 145amp, it plugged right in and was only 40 bucks.

What is the purpose of the black plastic piece on the stock alt.? It almost looks like a vent maybe to deflect heat.

I was looking at doing this on my 99 2500 4x4 since I built a dual electric fan setup for it. I was told you had to use a bigger charge wire to avoid burning the wire up at full draw.
