Default Best lq9 cylinder head

What's the best bang for buck cylinder head for a lq9 408 rectangle port intake for single 80mm turbo

Stock some 317 it gives lower comp and heard it flows well...aftermarket it an be some afr 230cc with 72cc chambers

LS3 heads. Flow close to what aftermarket cathedral port heads do, and are $1000 new with valves/springs installed from Scoggin Dickey.

For boost I would roll with LSA's because there decks are thicker and made out of stronger aluminum they cost a little more but IMO its worth it to not have to worry about lifting the heads. LS3/L92's seem to be hit or miss when it comes to boost, some people get away with them and dont lift the heads others have problems. From what I gather all it takes is a little bit of detonation and you will be changing head gaskets at the minimum with LS3/L92's, on the other hand LSA's take a little more abuse which makes them more reliable in a FI application.

You cant beat the flow out of the box of the rectangle ports though as far as bang for your buck.

l92 heads ,, can find them for 600 bucks ..

Agree with above. L92s are where it's at. Throw some good vlaves and valve job on them and you have amazing potential for cheap.

I have L92 already unported just trying to work out whether to port them or buy a new set of heads
