Default C4 corvette to ls1 main ground cable connection?

I know the main bolt hole for the ground cable is on the pass side of my 5.3... Well the old engine grounded to the battery on the drivers side... Will it be good enough to ground it to a transmission bolt? Getting close to being able to start this thing and wondering what people have done and if that'll be alright. Don't have much length of cable to work with either.

My Gen-IV block had a convenient bolt hole right under the front exhaust bolt.

Completely missed that! Mine has it also. I must have overlooked it because it's painted ill hafta chase the threads and use it! Thanks a bunch. What about the braided ground strap for the chassis? Tranny bolt?

I attached the braided cable to a bolt on the frame rail, near the shield. (Mines a '92 and I'm not sure if the earlier cars have the shield, but should have bolt holes on the frame there?)

You can see the hole I used in the upper left of this pic, before the braided cable was attached.
