Default '05 V, cam setup or "all around" mods

So I've been itching BADLY for a cam setup. With that being said, I'm doing tons of research and pricing supporting mods, tuners, etc.

I have a budget of around $2500, and a cam setup w/ supporting mods (lifters, springs, long tubes, etc) will max out my budget most definitely. What I am thinking is possibly doing an "all-around" mod weekend, possibly long tubes, cradle bushings, changing from muffler delete to a x-pipe with custom muffler setup and a tune with some extra $ left over. Maybe putting something on my wifes Trailblazer SS.

I already have LS7 clutch, muffler delete, Hurst shifter, the small basics. This is currently my daily driver and I plan on later this year getting a truck for a daily so the V can become a weekend toy. Your thoughts?

If you want a cam setup, do a cam setup...your only gonna want it more once other mods are done.

Also, you don't need to do lifters. You know the heads have to come off for that, right. You just need cam, springs, and pushrods unless you know you have a bad lifter.

Being able to put more of the power you already have to the ground makes more sense. Before turning the heat up under the hood, I would get the car more cluch dump friendly with an 8.8 swap. You could probably do it for $2500 if you're crafty.

i haven't heard of anyone saying they regretted it....

There are tons of cams at your disposal,

You can get the thunder racing cheater cam, LPE GT2-3, both are great with stock top ends and offer decent power for the work you put in...

If you are lookin to freshen up the top end with more airflow i would recommend the GT11 from LPE. Get the full valve springs, pushrods, rockers arm bearings and lifters

Here's my list:

VRX5 w/ BTW dual spring kit
Pushrods
Powerbond race series balancer
LS2 timing chain
OBX long tunes
Comp Cam truntion upgrade
Custom tune done locally

This puts me a hair under $2k and then I have money to spend on an exhaust done locally.

The other route I was thinking was Corsa and full bushing kit, along with fixing some cracked interior pieces from the previous owner. They're in the backseat area so I've let it go for some time now.

Cam is still in the cars future with the 2nd setup and if I want until later this year or next year a set of heads will go with it.

Do lifters. I'd hate to do all that work and then have one collapse on me just cuz I didn't swap for new ones.

My suggestion, don't do the cam yet since you say you plan on doing heads too. You'll want to pick your cam out based on what heads you go with for the best performance, piston to valve clearance, etc.
