Default Cts-v1 > = < c5/c5z

I've done a few small mods to my car such as ls7 clutch n flywheel, CAI, ported TB, W4M tune, Headers, cat delete, cutouts, pisnuoff Hurst..... The car feels peppy as hell and Ive been curious how it would perform in a race with a C5Z as I figured it wouldnt be too much slower.... untill tonite when I raced a BASE C5... neck and neck in 1st...I started to pull him at the end of 2nd, and slowly pulled through 3rd gear.... It was kind of disapointing. I understand that the C5 is less weigh but not insanely less, and probably less parasitic loss in drivetrain? The guy said his vette was stock, also it was an auto.

So I ask, is this NORMAL? and what does it take to even run equal with a stock C5Z?

The C5Z is somewhere in the neighborhood of 600-700lbs less than the CTS-V, and the V doesn't have the advantage of the trans and axle setup that the C5Z has. The V is also less aerodynamic, and has far more drivetrain loss than the C5Z does.

If you wanna run with a C5Z, get a C5Z. The V's not intended to attack the same segment as the C5Z. Different cars are different.

A C5Z only has what, 40hp more than a C5? I'd throw in a cam and probably do some headwork and you should beat a stock C5Z without much of a hassle. Did you spin at all in 1st or hop? I would invest in some tires if you did, that will help a lot along with bushings if you were hopping.

I have general Gmax as3 tires... they grip very well.. I only hop a little bit sometimes since doing the cradle bushings.

Im considering a cam for sure.. I just want to be equal runner with a C5Z... I guess thats my next goal. It kinda bugged me as I had thought I would wax a BASE C5...

small to decent size heads/cam setup would get you there if you want to beat a stock c5z. I wouldnt be surprised if the c5z is more like 800 lbs less then our V.

Sounds like you are like me though, I wouldnt want a c5z, I'd rather my V beat up on them lol

It weighs a lot less, the V1 suspension sucks, and it's a lot more aerodynamic haha

Probably a significant gearing difference too?
