Getting ready to pull the trigger on a nitrous kit. Don't want buyers remorse so thought I would ask around. Wasn't sure to go with plate, direct injection, or nozzle in air tube? I know I want a progressive controller, not sure which one? Also not sure how much I can safely spray? It's a forged 383 with AFR 195 eliminator heads, 11.4 compression, 26/18 Diamond pistons, Comp custom 238/246. 605/618 lift. 36 lb Bosch injectors in a Trans am, 4l60e 3600 circle D and 390 9 in Ford rear. Any experience would be appreciated.

Did you have it tuned for Nitrous or are you running NA tune? Don't guess you have any track times?

I have a custom dyno tune for both n/a and nitrous, and use a LNC-2000 to pull the timing. Just a flip of the switch, and I can switch tunes. No track times yet, but will soon

So the lnc 2000 stores 2 tunes? Do you use it as a launch control? I am thinking a larger shot with a progressive controller would be less of a shock on the engine?

No it doesn't hold a tune, it just pulls timing, and can be used as a launch control as well...which I don't personally use. No my car has a custom dyno tune, and when I arm my nitrous and hit WOT the LNC will pull the timing. See what I mean? Yes a progressive controller would allow for less of a shock if you're wanting to do a big shot here

So your nitrous is on when you leave the line? Do you have a problem with traction ?

Lol I have went through all that, 10 bolt is long gone, now 9 ford with 390s, and 28x12.50x17 MT drag radials with suspension modes, I would like to hit nitrous right after launch.

I am thinking about going with a bigger maybe 200 or 300 and using a progressive controller. then I could ease into it, Set it shut off at 100 or 150. but I am not really sure. It is all forged but I sure don't want to blow it up.

Gotcha! Even a 200 shot is going to be a crazy hit, so if it were me i'd start there and just work my way up if desired

Question: I presume you shift at 6500, is that were your Dyno runs showed peak power drop off? I haven't had mine dyno'd yet so I am not sure were I should set my shift points. Is your cam a so called nitrous cam? What are your cam specs? I sure don't have $$$ for another cam.

Yes 6500 is about where I shift. My rev limiter is at 6800 and the tuner only took it to 6500, so i'm not sure if it would still hold out a little longer. Hp peaks at 6200-6300 as well.

The specs on the cam: Lift 612/612, duration 236/244, LSA 113+4. It's more of a n/a cam overall
