Default Can you tell a 918 spring from stock by just looking at them?

The guy I got my heads from said they have the 918 springs. I think I'm getting valve float when I try to take the boost from 9 to 11lbs.. I have read about a blue stripe, which they don't have. They look identical to the stock springs on my old heads. Is the spring material any thicker? I was wondering if there is a way to tell by looking at them or do I have to take one off and pressure test it?

The newer versions of the 918s have a blue stripe painted on them. You could have an older set of 918s. You might be able to tell by the shape of the spring...918s are a beehive ovate wire spring which means that the top of the spring near the retainer will have a smaller radius than the bottom. In addition the spring itself will have an ovate or "oval" shaped wire.
