Default The teardown begins....and already finding and handful of problems...

Problems found so far:

1. Front Hal Series R shocks are both leaking (only 1000 miles on em )
2. Air plug from the back of the intake manifold fell off (I found it sitting on my tranny last week when fixing a Chevy dealership **** up from when they fixed my A/C).....so basically I had a vacuum leak on the car for a while.
3. Tranny seal where the driveshaft slides in is pretty destroyed. I haven't noticed leaking, but it needs repair.
4. U-Joint is very beat up....and in addition 2 of the bearings were floating around in the U-joint caps. Probably what was causing a vibration between 70-80mph upon mild acceleration.
5. Custom bolt setup from a crappy performance shop- I had 4 different stripped bolts on my U-joint. Made it a pita to take off
6. Exhaust leaks in some of the welds on my true dual exhaust (3 yrs old)

I'll keep everyone updated as it continues.....

Haha no seriously verbs, when was the last time you had your car looked at? That seems like a lot of little things but I would still think if you had your car worked on in the last couplle months that someone would have something. You think any of things were costing you hp? Good luck.

Any reason why you didn't leave the shocks all hooked up and unbolt from shock tower? Seems like it would save a little time. Just wondering cause I'm fixing to drop mine out the bottom.

If you ran around with the shocks at full soft to impress the young guys at Sonic then you can rupture the seals.

I have 15,000 on mine and I have gotten air with mine many times, I always put them back at 6 or 7 for the street. Mine are fine.

My car has only seen full soft for one drag pass at the track. It has never seen anything else other than 6-7 on the street.

If you were running around with a vac leak that explains many things right there. I am surprised you didnt notice your LTRIMS through the roof. That can EASILY account for 20 or more RWHP on the dyno in your setup.

The vacuum leak was very recent; I did notice the car not idling properly but figured since the teardown was coming soon anyway I'd deal with it then
