lq4/th350 Hey guys I have a 86 monte Carlo I'm doing a swap in. I have the flat 6.0 flexplate with the spacer Sandwiched in between flexplate and crank. I have a Coan converter for gen 1 small block. I know converter is fully seated but when spinning converter it stops on humps on flexplate. So if I bolt it up there the converter won't pull out.So my question is will the trans pump be ok if it doesn't pull out of the transmission a little. Has a anyone had this problem?

This forum has dozens, if not hundreds, of members who thought their converter was "fully seated" when it was not.
The ONLY way to be sure is to lay a straight edge over the bell housing and use a ruler to measure the distance from the converter pad to the straight edge. IIRC is needs to be 1-1/8 to 1-1/4" for all GM transmissions. 1" or less indicates the converter is not fully seated.
