Default Meziere Electric H20 is In!

It was actually a pretty simple mod. But then again, I'm not running AC or my heatercore for the time being.

I first want to say thanks to Meziere, because I called them last tuesday and they said they didn't have any ready to go. I told them I needed it this wednesday and it was Here! I'll have to call them and express my appreciation.

They sent me the WP119HD? pump for street use and their NEW eccentric tensioner for the LS1. The pumps was around $370 or so through a local hi-performance shop and the tensioner was like $70 extra. You can use it with or without the power steering, just use a shorter belt. But the shorter belt version, the rib side of the belt will be on the tensioner. Boohoo! And I couldn't find a short enough 6 rib belt so for now the 5 rib will have to work.

Here are the pics:

Wow that looks badass! You didn't happen to weigh it did you?
I wonder how it would do on a daily driver.

BTW....whats with the power steering? you can pull your a/c and heater...but not the PS? odd.

Yes it does look badass. I was never worried about looks under the hood, but I think I'll spend a little time detailing it up now.

Did I weigh it? I weigh everything! Stocker was 16lbs and Meziere 8lbs. 8lbs savings.

You can hardly even hear the electric motor, but it works great. I let it idle for 1/2 hour last night and it came up to operating temps and stayed there just like normal. Driving around is normal as well. I can't tell you any seat of the pants improvement yet because I swapped the drag wheels/tires on at the same time. But lordy does the car want to pull.

Another cool thing about it is that I can turn on the pump in the staging lanes and cool the car without starting it.

I could easily pull the PS but it's a street car. My AC hasn't worked in years and who needs a heater in the summer? It's a handful now without the power steering belt on, so I'll leave the PS alone for street driving. Otherwise, the PS is easy enough to take out.

On a side note, I did remove the power steering cooler. It weighed 4lbs. So I probably saved 5lbs with the extra hoses/clamps/fluid that were attached to it.

And the diet continues.....

I talked to Meziere yesterday and they said they did not have a pump for my 2000 SS. WTF!!
I have been waiting so long. Who did you talk to. Does the 98 version differ from the 2000
Did you get it direct from Meziere.
I want one BAD.

Looks good! Does the car keep its temp on the highway? Hooking your heater up will be easy. My setup adds about 8# to stock, so the mezerre pump would save me 16#. Hmmm.

How many hours of use is the pump rated for?

I wonder how smart it would be to put one on a car that is driven every day?
Hmm power steering cooler, don't really need that do we.

You can get one through MMS. I believe Derek @ MMS has one on his car so you can talk to him about it. I talked to John at Meziere and he was very helpful. (800)208-1755.

35GPM, 2500hrs I believe. If you drive an hour a day, it's good for 6.85 years. That's daily driver material.

I agree: Weight

I can't WEIGHT to WAY my car. LOL!

do you have any concerns about over working your alternator? i talked to Meziere and they said it only draws 8 amps, but I was told it could be a concern.

Jantzer, for some reason I can't see the pics... I get a message that I'm forbidden

Any chance you could email those pictures to me? I really want to see the tensioner. I want to put a Meziere pump on my car, but two things are stopping me: 1)I need to figure out belt routing w/o the PS pump, and 2)I still don't have a motor after waiting 2.5 months so far for ARE

Thanks...

wow no heat or a/c? what about when your windsheild fogs all up? well i have the jpr electric water pump. it uses the stock thermostat, and i have heat and a/c. plus its reverse cooled. the jpr pump is a bit more costly. but at least youll still retain your heat. joe has a couple of different designs. billet ones and tubular ones like on my car.

I'm not running a thermostat. I haven't had any problems with street/strip driving so far. Temps seem normal. You have to make compromises if you want to go fast! And maybe it's just me but I'de rather do it at $450 compared to $850. And damn it's the sweetest looking part I've ever seen.
