If so, how long does it take, my mechanic told me 3 hours total. Also if you have changed your sensor, did you notice any difference when you replaced it? I was told a guy at my local track gained 3 tenths simply by a replacement.

The only way that you would gain anything is if you had a bad knock sensor and it was pulling timing. As fas as for replacing them, it isnt hard, just pull the intake off, and the 2 sensor are right there, squeeze the plug to detach it from the sensor, and take a socked and unscrew the sensor

Torque the knock sensor to 15 ft lbs. Also, there is a SB out by GM that states to put a heavy bead of rtv around the rubber grommet. This is to divert water away from the knock sensor valley.

Thanks for your replys, I know I can do this change. what about the issue with the timing, because the sensor is throwing a code, isn't that the same as a bad sensor even if it is good? And wouldn't your engine compensate for it either way(loss of power)?
About my mechanic, I think he likes to charge a little high these days, I like him, and he's good, but I'd rather do things myself now.

One thing of note: before you reassemble make sure the wires for the sensors are not going to be in the way of the intake when you put it back together. I put my intake back on an pinched a wire going to the sensor and had to take it back apart to fix it.
