Yank SS3600 will be a very tight feeling and good performing converter and would be my choice in your stated stall range. A Vig 3200 and TCI 3500 would also perform well, but may be a little looser. However, both are less money.

Take a look at posts over the last 10 - 15 days and you'll see plenty of discussion. This is a pretty common topic.

Vig's are looser. I have a 3600 sittin in my garage waiting for install. So I really cant give ya alot of information.

This is what I DO have though..

When I called Precision Industries ( makers of the VIGILANTE Torque Converter ) the Tech explained to me that LS1 engines wake-up around the 32-3300 mark. That if I went with a 3200 I would like it but be quick to return it to get reflashed and brought up to atleast a 3600. I asked why and she said 3200's are great, but when you are paired up with a 3600 you will see a big difference. I asked if it was bad for the car and she claimed no. Plus you get one free reflash of the TC so even if i DONT like the 3600 I can always bring it back to the 3200.

Also, MAKE SURE YOU GET A TRANS GO SHIFT KIT AND TRANS COOLER.

The shifts become VERY sloppy and can ultimately be the demise to your transmission. I bought the Trans Go Shift kit and I have the B&M 24000 Trans cooler.

Should be all in by next week.

consider a deeper pan as well.

Great idea on the trans cooler and we also went to a deeper pan once we got to a bigger converter(temps started going up with the over 4000 stalls).
But you dont have to get the shift kit. We had our PCM tuned after the converter installed and with the proper person tunning you can have the correct pressures tuned in as well as torque management removed and the shifts feel better than they did with stock converter. With the proper tune which most people get after converters to get rid of Tq Man you dont have to have the shift kit. JMO and experience.

A converter does not cause you to need a shift kit. However, if you want firmer shifts, I do like a shift kit over the use of programming.
