powerglide or th350????

Powerglide is much better suited to a car under 3,000lb.'s. The th350 can be built to handle that type of power (est. 700rwhp) but a th400 is much better to handle the job. It all boils down to what he has currently (parts, setup, etc), what he wants to do with it and the key - HOW MUCH MONEY HE HAS TO SPEND.

Yeh, nothing like having only two gears, neither of
them low and neither of them overdrive. I have a
'glide in my beater El Camino and it's a crappy thing
to drive on the street; I'm just too apathetic to
change it out, on a $400 rust-bomb.

If you're pushing 800rwhp, I would go with a TH400. It's a little more streetable and there are a lot of places that can build them to handle that kind of power. You can even get it with a gear vendor's OD unit to split up the gears so it will be even more streetable.
