Default Why do you think I didn't gain from the head swap?

I put a set of 5.3 stage 1 heads on my car. Everything else stayed the same. I didn't gain any HP. The heads have the larger intake valves but retained the stock 5.3 exhaust valve. My cam is a 224/224 .581/.581 112 lsa.

Do you think if I had a longer exhaust duration this would help the the engine get rid of the exhaust better and thus make more power? I'm thinking about the 231/237.

I thought I'd gain at least 10-15rwhp from the increase in compression.

The car is at 394rwhp NA.

Did you check the advance on the dyno. The lower compression may have run more advance.

Your peak hp stayed the same, but did it affect your low and midrange any?

Are the numbers corrected?
Was it the same dyno?
Did you get any baseline runs at the track to compare it to?

Same dyno, pretty much the same weather, same tuner, same advance. The heads before were the stock LS1 heads. I haven't been to the track from before the first time I dynoed at 394rwhp. Previous to the 5.3 head addition I blew up the motor on nitrous. I should have listened to my tuner to get bigger injectors before spraying. The new motor is a forged piston 347ci. The new motor is balanced and built by a very respected builder. It's the same guy that did my tune and runs the dyno.

Lets get back to theory here.
Are the smaller exhaust valves in the 5.3 heads not working with the straight duration cam(224/224) like it did before on the LS1 head? Will a 231/237 or similar type cam cam get the exhaust gases out better?
