Thunder Shootout tech?
Just how strict will the tech. and track rules be as far as safety equipment, etc?
i.e. 9 second cars? Window nets, chassis certs, etc...

I'm uhhh.... curious too.. I'm legal to 10.0, but I've got a solid 9 second ride. I have to race pro outlaw if I'm gonna go.. I'll have to hustle up some serious dough to get legal in time if I have to.. finish the cage, SFI balancer, and trans blanket off the top of my head. On top of that, I broke my damn rearend (pics). If tech is a little on the lenient side, that would be ok w/ me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Either way, I'm going. I just want to know if I need to sell a kidney or not. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I hate to sound prudish, but guys (and gals), if you have a car capable of getting into the 9's, you really really really really really should have the safety equipment mandated for that ET/MPH. I don't need to tell you that you are at a performance level in which things can get out of hand in a BIG hurry.
Also...from the tracks perspective...and irregardless of the waiver that you sign...they could get into serious liability issues if they knowing let you run faster than the sanctioning body allows - per the safety requirements.

How about a competition license? Car will be ready but dont have enough time to get the license runs in. Car has all required saftey equiptment. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" />

I spent a small fortune making my car and chassis 9 second legal so they better be strict about it or I for one will not be happy.

So many folks on the LS1 boards are making dangerous
power numbers but are irresponsible with their own
safty.
A person can get into more trouble in 5 seconds than
they can get out of in 5 months.
When it comes to personal safety, don't do it to
pass inspection, do it to prevent injury and
possibly death.
There is NO amount of .10ths that is worth getting
injured over.
I've pulled bodies out of performance cars, and you
DON'T want to be one.

I heard they're very strict at No Problem, being a fairly new track w/NHRA sanctioning, they sure don't need No Problems <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I do take track rules seriously, and wouldn't want to compromise my safety. I was just thinking aloud more than anything... I'm just not ready to take the big plunge to make the car 9 second legal right now, but would love to throw on a 200hp N2O shot for a few passes... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
If tech is really that strict at No Problem, then there won't be any 10 second automatic LS1's there at all since there is not an SFI approved flexplate. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I'm not sure how the SE guys are getting around this, unless they're sending 2 stock flexplates to the SFI foundation for testing. And, if that's the case, then why wouldn't the stock flexplate automatically be SFI approved?

If you wish to get even deeper, there would be no M6's running 11.99 or quicker either, because there is no scattershield available for the T56.

I was talking to Joe about this on the email and Ive yet to hear back from him. He is on the road I think.
My car will be totally legal as far as safety equipment goes but I wont have the time to get my comp license in time for the race. I have the cage, loops, no c-clips, window net, long wheel studs, etc.
However, lack the cage certification (which I can get easy Im sure in time for the race.) The competition license on the other hand. Err well I dont know about that.

Yeah it does take some time and effort to get legal. not to mention cost more than a little too.
But hey ...after seeing my buddy (LarryS) go into the wall next to me at the top end of the track...well it sorta changed my outlook on running with proper safety equip.
I almost started to upgrade my cage...I will before winter...but I don't anticipate running close to a 9 at TR, so I held off. If by some wierd twist of fate I did run a 9, well I'd be the happiest guy invited not to run anymore <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> .

ThunderRacing rented the track and will do the teching. The No Problem staff will not have anything to do with it. Again e-mail me with your questions.
