Default Richmond Drag Racing M6 Tranny?

http://www.salleechevrolet.com/Richm...Speed_ROD.html
I'd post this in the drivetrain section but no one ever sees it there, I was wondering if anyone had one of these in their LS1's, I'm basically wanting to add lots more power but still have a manual tranny with an overdrive. The gear ratios on this thing are insane. 3.28 1st gear, 2.14 2nd, 1.57 third, 1.24 fourth, 1.10 5th, and .75 6th. I know John Moss had a 5 speed richmond is his ZL1, how are these things at holding 500+ rwhp/rwtq and how do they drive on the street. I know with that high of a ratio you'd need to shift into 5th for the quarter mile. TIA ~tony

I think the Ls1 uses a completely different style clutch set-up doesn't it. The Richmond utilizes the tradional hydraulic set-up like a Lt1 did.

Billy I know what you mean, but like I said I know John Mos had one is his car (granted it wasn't an LS1) but it was making like 770 hp and going 9's, so I'm know they do make good trannys.

Those trannies are probably stronger than they claim by a little, but it's torque, not hp that breaks parts like transmissions. Consider the torque, vehicle weight and rear gears going withthe trans and make your decision. You'll be shifting that trans REAL fast too, since it's geared so low.

i am happy with my t56 since the rebuild @ D&D transmision, while the parts were out i had them cryogenically frozen, i have had about 8 or so good nitrous runs and it is holding up quite well. that is about 750rwhp in a 3600+ lb car.

just my .02, and i can still take it for a 4 hour trip to toronto
