Re: What to stall my ST3500 at? I take mine as far as it goes until the car feels like its about to move,which is about 3200rpm.I pull 1.5s all day.et drags all bolt ons 3450 RW

What to stall my ST3500 at? what rpm's should i be brake torquing to with this converter...? i'm just curious what's best. 1.700 is the best i've gotten with it so far on nitto's. i'm looking for 1.6's. thanks

Re: What to stall my ST3500 at? I typically race at a backyard track (no prep), but the best I've managed is a 1.75 on nitto's. I just bring the RPM's a little over stock (~1200 or so), roll into it for a second at about 1/2-3/4 throttle and mash. If i launch much harder it just spins. On ET streets, I launch between 2500-2800, but it just doesnt work well with my Nitto's launching like that.
I make quite a bit less power than you though, only Dyno'd 317 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: What to stall my ST3500 at? 2002Z is absolutely right. The ST3500 likes to be stalled as high as the front tires will allow. We have pulled 1.62s on Nittos and 1.57s on ET streets. The more you stall the better the launch provided the tires will hold. Good luck.

Re: What to stall my ST3500 at? Remember not to hold it at 3000 rpms or higher for more than a couple of seconds or it'll go into limp mode and launch in 2nd. I found that out the hard way.
I haven't had a chance to try stalling it up again since I found out what was causing it to launch in 2nd gear.. But I got the 60' time in my sig by flashing it from just above idle. Hopefully I can go a little quicker next time when I try stalling it.

A friend of mine has the ST3500 and he went 11.93 stock internally on a 1.6x 60
With my nittos i just back into the edge of the water box, roast them.. ease ahead out of edge of box, hold for 1-2 seconds, then roast them to the tree almost. Keep them smoking as long as you can!
i run 20psi in them and cut 1.58's-1.62's on the vig3600 stock internally. the trick is in the burnout. With the ST3500 you will just have to play with the launch. Try one launch near idle(thats where i launch but roll into the gas) and try one around 2k. Every car is different. But make sure you have a good burnout each time, or launching at different rpms wont tell you squat. Also after every pass, check PSI in tires! It will go up 1-3psi each pass. So 20psi one pass is 26psi 2 passes later <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: What to stall my ST3500 at? Yeah Evills1 is right about the limp home mode. It also will not shift out of second gear. It will just bang the limiter. All you have to do is shut the car off and let it cool down a bit, then it's ready to go. BTW- I edited that out with my custom tuning from MTI. Launches like a rocket now if I can keep from pushing the car through the lights. It's all about trial and error. Good luck!!!
