Default I need better traction, give me some direction:

I'm greedy. I have a best 60' of 1.501. I need to get the car down into the 1.45 range.

I have Hall shocks & springs in the front. No sway bar. Convo pro with metric 165 tire.

Rear, I have stock shocks & springs, LG sway bar, poly bushings, BMR LCA, and TQ arm to go along with the Moser 12 bolt.

What am I missing, give me some ideas.

I'm thinking a little more weight reduction off the front, and an air bag for the right rear. What else is there?

1.50's - sweet. Last I saw, you were stuck in the 1.6's. What was the problem? I guess you fixed it..

FWIW - I have HAL's out back and have always kept them pretty soft. Until someone told me to tighten it up. From 2-4 that I normally run to 7-8. It really helped. Depends on the track too of course.

you are going in the right direction. i'm going to be experimenting soon with comparisons of no air bag, air bag in right rear, and air bag in both rear springs. I have v6 rear springs going in the car from my daily driver '94 v6. So i think my weight transfer is going to be too much wasted motion with it squatting so hard. That's why i want to try both. Also, since you have the sway bar removed, the car has a greater tendency to torque over and squat really hard on the right rear. i have pics of my car really coming down on the right rear, possibly even unloading the left rear. So look into that as well. What is your torque arm pinion angle set to? I also have a torque strap that i used to keep my y-pipe from banging. now i have true duals, but i firmly believe that the ratchet strap helps in weight transfer as well with not allowing the motor to move on launch. just picks up the chassis. I could pull the left front a couple inches on a 1.68 60ft. in a 3400lb car. Like i said, you are on the right track in my opinion. Try those things out. I'll let oyu know how i do with the air bags.

Chris

The problem was the tranny. It had 200 runs on the stock A4, and was getting tired. I may go with something different in the future, but the car is a street car, so I did not want to give up the OD. I went with the FLP. I'll see what it can handle.

When you say the Hals in the back helped you alot, what do you mean? Do you have before and after improvements?

Pinion angle is set at -2. At what point do you determine that you need a TQ strap? My motor def shakes alot inside the car. Air bags are going in soon, at least on the right side.

I like having the rear QA1/Hals too... I have not been able to run the harder than 4/4 so far...

I think weight off the noise is a big deal...

My car has gone 1.49 so far I'm hoping for like a 1.46 at some point.

Cliff, you might want to try a Wolfe Raer Sway bar and some front runners. The Wolfe Sway bar bolts directly to the rear end for better tractoin, from what I hear it works great and is very streetable. As for the frotn runner I know they are expensive but that weight off the front end of the car and more important less rotating mass. Good luck with your times. ~Tony

It wasn't that i reached a point. It was just that the y-pipe was hitting my floorboard. I put it on and i believe it helps. Kind of like a cheapy solid motor mount. try it out, see if it helps from the motor twisting over(possibly even have worn out motor mounts) and if it doesn't work at all for ya, i paid $8 for mine. not that big of a waste of money, and at some point you'll need it around the house.

Hacker was going 1.45's on 26' et streets a few years ago. Spraying a lot off the line and front hals at 1/1. Had a solid swaybar but not at the time of the 10.7 passes. (3700 raceweight)

BlackSunshine - improvement for me so far on the HALs hasn't been huge - about .06 in the 60'. What I really like is the adjustability - and you can feel and see the difference. Even down the track. What I've found is when I tighten the rear down, I might get the same 60' as a softer setting(but usually better), but I'll et and mph better..

Chris - I've always liked the idea of a torque strap, but don't have a banging problem with duals as I did with my Y. Still, it just makes sense to have one to me. Can you send me a pm on how you made yours? I would REALLY appreciate it.

**Another thing I've thought about is a suspension travel limiter. JEG's has them for $50 or so. A friend of mine who builds back-half cars told me it might help my car. It really comes up on the front. Limiting that will cause it to hit the tires even harder right? Thoughts?

Not trying to steal your thread BlackSunshine, but, while we're on the topic of traction and 60's...
