what are the effects will the ever get hot enough to operate closed loop conditions

The problem is the O2's are too close to the end. Unless you are at WOT, if you are in closed loop the outside air contaminates the O2 readings and your car will continue to add fuel until your LTrims are maxed out.

When I run open headers I force the car into 100% open loop.

think 02s need to be 18-20 inch away from open end or 02s will read cold air coming in
