Anyone experiencing Patriot Gold Double's breaking?
I ordered a set of AFR's with Patriot Gold Doubles and was all warm and fuzzy inside. Then I read a thread that stated off the cuff that those springs were breaking. Any input/ experience with this? I am going to be running a 224/228 .581/.588 @ 112+4 with Harland Sharp rollers, Comp 850 lifters, and hardened pushrods.

i've yet to here of any PP Gold spring breaking, the older PP non-gold springs have had a few issues but ever since theye switched to the golds theres been nary a problem. the Golds will handle your cam like a cakewalk. just install them at the proper install height of 1.800 and you'll have 135 seat pressure and 385 open, coil bind occurs @ 1.08. there made of Super Pure Chrome Silicone Vanadium and they're Electro polished to help spring life & remove spring impurities.

same cam i'm going to run too
however thats the only instance i've heard of the Golds breaking, period. they are great springs and can handle just about everything. i'm definitely going to use them.

Freak occurance IMO, or funky install (the tip broke but not the spring). "Golds" do not need to be shimmed.
I'll be running them on my AFR with an XE-R Stealth Cam and 850 Comp lifters with Comp p-rods.
I will be totally at peace doing so.

I've had the Patriot Gold springs with my G5X2 for just about 8k hard miles now. Took the motor apart yesterday and they looked brand new, still shiney gold and everything

In that situation the springs were not installed with the correct seat base. They were installed using the factory seat base. That caused the inner spring to coil bind.
