Default ASP pulley Questions

I dont know jack about pullies. IS the ASP pulley worth getting?

Any horsepower gains/pros/cons?

Also, does $60 sound like a deal for the crank and alt. pullies(no belts) and where can I get the belts?

Sorry so many questions, but Thanks in advance!

Fist off, a search will yield answers to your questions.

Second, yes, it is very worth while doing. Definitly some horsepower gains. Only con is lower alternator output, bad for big stereo systems.

Considering they usually go for $200 for JUST the crank pulley, $60 is a great deal. Make sure it's legit though. Belts can be bought at local auto part stores.

Which would be better for a very lightly modded car? Overdrive or Underdrive?

you want underdrive for the crank pulley and iff you wish get overdrive for the alternator if you think you need it

it all actuality I'm not sure if you get any additional significant HP from the ASP... But you do reduce the rotating mass by a large amount so your motor revs quicker, pushing you through the band quicker. The UD pulley is good for about a tenth in the 1/4, which equates to near 10 hp...

Most of the gain you'll get is from slowing the water pump with respect to the whole belt drive... Still.. i don't think 5-10 hp...

I dynoed after doing an LS6 intake, ASP, and ported TB... I picked up about 10 hp with all these... probably mostly from the LS6

you want to underdrive the crank pulley... smaller pulley = faster rotation

simple concept

like said before... good for a tenth on a lightly modded or heavily modded car
