Default Some Cam questions! need help!

Well i am pretty sure i decided to go with a cam.. i'm leaning towards something like the FM11 cam on stock heads.. i have a few questions.. feel free to make any suggestions.. different ideas, cam, ect..

1. what kind of package should i buy for springs? Should i go with the MTI valvetrain package for $375? or should i go for something else? let me know of better deals or better quality packages
2. I also heard ti would be good to upgrade my stock oil pump to an LS6 oil pump.. and get rid of my stock timing chain and put in a double roller? Is this unneccessary? or should it be done while its being done?
3. Also with the amount of horsepower i'll be pushing with the cam.. probably close to 380-400 HP.. possibly more.. i have no idea.. Should i plan on looking for new racing tranny and a 12 bolt rear end? I already have a shift kit and tranny cooler on my trans? will it hold up around 400 RWHP?

My plans are basically to get the FM11 cam, get a valvetrain package, double roller timing chain, LS6 oil pump, Hals 12 way adjustable shocks, and a Dyno tune and Diablo sport programmer..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. and if anything i said sounds wrong.. feel free to correct me! Thanks a lot

jrp, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if, even with your 5300+ posts, your average response is still less than 10 characters.

I'm not sure his question #3 was answered. It's actually one of the questions I'm wondering myself.

the 10 bolt is pretty forgiving with the 4l60e, at his point in time i dont see a need for a 12 bolt.

1. what kind of package should i buy for springs? Should i go with the MTI valvetrain package for $375? or should i go for something else? let me know of better deals or better quality packages
TSP "PP GOLD" package, complete for $289.oo if I remember correctly.
2. I also heard ti would be good to upgrade my stock oil pump to an LS6 oil pump.. and get rid of my stock timing chain and put in a double roller? Is this unneccessary? or should it be done while its being done?
Single Roller would do fine but most here will say double. LS6 oil pump a plus depending on year of your car. less necessary with 01/02
3. Also with the amount of horsepower i'll be pushing with the cam.. probably close to 380-400 HP.. possibly more.. i have no idea.. Should i plan on looking for new racing tranny and a 12 bolt rear end? I already have a shift kit and tranny cooler on my trans? will it hold up around 400 RWHP
That also depends on the condition of your tranny. Mine held 500rwhp on nitrous for over a year, still running but I'm upgrading to a Stage 4 FLP.
With some suspension mods, LCA, PH, TA, T/A alum girdle you 10 bolt should fair pretty well. Important is to eliminate wheel hop which is what kills rears. I still have mine with 3:73 motive, Auburn slip dif, T/a girdle.

alright cool! Thanks for the help Predator-Z.. thats a good deal on that TSP package.. and i have a 2000 camaro.. so i'll probably get an ls6 oil pump and a double roller while i'm at it.. just to make sure everything is running good.. and if your tranny help around 500 RWHP it makes me feel a lot better going around 400RWHP.. as long as i keep it cool and take care of that and the wheel hop in my rear end.. it should be cool! Thanks a lot man! i appreciate it

Is there anyone else running the FM11 cam with the same basic set up i have going? If so what kind of times were you putting down? what kinda RWHP? Also how is your tranny and rear holding up.. and what have you done for traction issues? I know i can search and find a lot of info.. but its hard to find someone who has the same set up as me.. just looking for opinions.. Thanks!

I wasn't too concerned about the rear I was thinking more along the lines of of if the tranny itself would grenade.

That also depends on the condition of your tranny
