This is a tough question to answer because it seems that the JPR tool works on some cars better than others. I have a 2k T/A and I didn't have any luck with the JPR tool; I ended up using pen magnets. If I was gonna do it again I would try fabricating a tool out of 5/16" stock, and if that didn't work, I would go to the pen magnets.

use 5/16's dowel, or brake line if you can get your hands on any, **** the jpr tool, thats a waste of money you could be puttin into your car

5/16 alum rod here. used it on my 01 and a friends 98 also. works like a champ!

I did have to sand a flat spot along the length of the pass. side rod though. took off about 1/32" maybe.

That is exactly what I've done before too on a 00 Z and a 99 T/A
