advantages of a 348CI motor?
I know getting a 348CI motor, all forged out and stuff makes is A LOT stronger for higher horsepower applications, but does getting an actual 348CI motor add an HP? Like if i were to buy one, would it add any HP or just make my engine stronger? Sorry for the noob question but gotta learn some how

If it has stock top end, it will make no more power then a stock engine. A 348 with a forged lower end is usually for a nitrous, supercharged, or very high rpm application. Much stronger, but not necessary for stock type N/A setups. 1 more cube will make no noticable horespower over a 347" motor. Is this what your are asking?

Since you have almost the same displacement than stock, it will make make the same HP and TQ than a regular 346 (assuming same mods, cam, heads, etc...).
With a forged 348, what you have is the ability to go much more agressive on mods (ex: a 200 shot of NOS). Basically, you just built a stronger engine that you can push harder. A better platform for radical mods.
Since you want a forged bottom end, why not go with a 382 or a 395? That alone will deliver more TQ and HP all across the curve, plus the ability to support a more agressive cam and a bit more CR (the benefits of the added cubes).

Some consider it a waste of money. It being the middle man and all. It makes sense to me, build what you got, or build the biggest you can.
The prices on the bigger cube motors 400+ is really coming down so that is a factor as well. In a nutshell, that's why you don't see quite as many 382 or 395s kicking around.

Well, bigger than 400 usually means Iron Block, so there is the weight factor. Personally, I would rather have a 382/383 than a 402/408, however as stated above the bigger the better then 427/434/455 would be my choice of heavy metal.

I would LOVE to know why you say that?
In general lighter parts, and a better balanced and blueprinted motor equals mroe power. Maybe I am missing something here though...lol.

my forged shortblock has been a hoot. Dont mess with the bottom end unless you have S2 or better heads, or want to run forced induction, or funny gas. If you go 383, good luck hooking up without slicks, my car is looses traction easily enough with good street tires and 3.42s, which are hopefully going to be swapped out for 3.90s by the crew at speed inc. one of these days.

Depends alot on the builder. Also things such as high compression / low compression will be the determining factors in how much the motor puts out.
