Where to angle turndowns?

Where to angle turndowns? IV got longtubes, truedauls, x-pipe, nad bullet mufflers. Im gonna put the turn downs before the axle. Is the a direction that is better than another for sound level resons or for any other reason. I think i read somewhere that turning them away from the ground will make the quieter?
