Default Which lid to buy?

My girlfriend just bought herself a 99 Formula A4 in uber great shape. She's leaving it to me to put a few mild mods on it (for now)..

Anyways, one of my friends with a SS tells me to buy a SLP lid.. and another says to get a TSP lid.. which would be better of the two? I can't find a price on a TSP.. but I see the SLP lids on ebay for $90ish or so.

I got an MTI lid and am VERY happy with it...

They are all gonna yeild similar gains in HP. Id say TSP or MTI would be good bets, those were the two I ever considered.

I agree. Lloyd at MTI got me a good deal on a carbon-fiber looking lid. Looks great and I can feel the difference!

They all are basically the same and depending on which on happens to arrive at your door will depend on the fit. My buddies TSP fits fine mine is a little warped.

thebernsZ28 took the words right out of my mouth. All will give you almost identical power. 1-2 hp will not be noticeable and some come to your door made sliightly different depending on how they cool I believe. I read that from a magazine I got several months ago. depends on price and fitment. Research a little.

I considered this one and TSP based on fitament responses. I think I got the GMS brand new for like $140~ish OTD. If you can find one used in good shape do it and go w/lnuxhakrs' advise

Look in the parts for sale section of this site. There are many good deals to be had there.
For example I got an MTI Lid for 60 bucks

The Slp lid I got was the best bang for the buck mod so far for me. I paid like $80 for a blemished lid which fit perfectly, looked perfect and had a scratch on it (blemished?). Go Slp if you can get cheap, took 2 minutes to install and fit perfect

Just so you know. A lid is a lid is a lid. find one that astheticlly suits you and go with it. I prefer the clear look so thats what I bought.

Regardless of which one you choose just make sure to purchase from one of our LS1tech.com sponsors. ----------------->

A buddy of mine with a TA has the SLP lid and its scrapes on the bottom of his hood.
Another friend of mine with a Z28 has the MTI lid and gained 5 pounds of torque on the dyno over the K&N FIPK.
I would personally get the MTI or TSP. I'd prefer the TSP because I like the way it looks. But the MTI or TSP are the only lids i'd pay full price for... i'd have to get a damn good deal to consider any other.

ive heard this about several SLP lids. ive also heard that the whisper lid has fitment issues alot of the time, and the GMS lids crack easily. these are all things ive seen written pretty frequently on here, and other message boards. i dont ever hear much bad about TSP or MTI. so "a lid is a lid is a lid" doesnt necessarily apply.
