My car doesnt start... all it does is sit there and tick like it has a dead battery.. charged the battery for 12 hours.. full charge.. same thing.. Im thinking maybe starter.. or solenoid.. but another wierd thing.. When it ticks, the lights in the dash flicker like there is a short.. any help would be appreciated.

Check your grounds, also check the terminals on the battery for good contact. You might want to put a new battery in there, how do you know it is fully charged?

If the battery has been in there longer than 2 or 3 years, it's time to replace it. No matter how long you charge it, it will stay dead. To save money, take the batt. out and take it to Advance, Pep, or NAPA and have them check it...if you don't have a multi-meter. You can do the same with the starter, take it out and have them spin it.

I'm guessing batt. if it's a few years old.

The battery might not have the amperage to engage the starter ...but check the battery terminals first.

Even though your battery has a full charge, that doesn't mean it will do anything to start the car if it has a dead cell.
