HELP Powercoat scratched: what should I do?
Hey guys,
I recently got some OE concepts black ZR1s and shortly after got into a little accident. I busted one brand new 315 GSD3 which sucks becuase the tire costs more than a rim. Anyway all of the rims are ok except 2 of them are scratched, a couple of the scratches sorta deep but I was wondering what I should do to them.
Should I:
1. Try to wet sand them out?
2. Send them off to get repowdercoated?
3. After sanding Paint the center of the rims over?
4. Anything else?
Thanks in advance guys and any help is greatly appreicated.

Depends on how many coats they have. If they have one coat then you shouldn't do any kind of sanding because you might go right down to the aluminum, in which case you'll make it worse. If they have two coats then I recommend getting some semi-chrome from any type of motorcylce shop and rub it in, almost as if you're trying to buff it out. This will only work if it's a surface scratch. If the scratch is all the way down to the wheel, then there's pretty much nothing you can do but get it redone.

Well being it my faught I doubt the company will replace them even though I'd only had them on the car for 4 days but I think I'll just send them off and get them redone.
